Spoiling Your Dog:
Spoiling your dog is at the top of our list for a way to ruin your dog. One of the biggest mistakes most people make is, 'spoiling their dog'. It's interesting that people think one of the best ways to treat a dog is to keep their dog in doors at all times. People must mistakenly forget that dogs are outdoor animals by nature. It is important for them to spend time outside where there is many different stimuli for them to enjoy throughout the day. Dogs like to play games that include birds, butterflies, lizards, planes, and fresh air.
No Discipline:
Now this is a really good one. Try not giving your dog any discipline and see how far you get. Try turning your back to your dog when he does something wrong and see how quickly he stops that behavior. Ha ha ha, sorry, I just had to laugh real quick. I find it very humorous when a new client hires me and they have worked with a dog trainer that told them never discipline their dog. It's both funny and sad at the same time. It's funny because sometimes in life you just have to laugh. It's sad because a lot of people spend thousands of dollars with these so called, trainers, and they resolve none of the problems they are having with their dogs.
Never 'Make' Your Dog Do Anything:
This is another really good one that some trainers teach their clients. The concept is that you should never 'make' your dog do anything he doesn't want to do. The truth is actually quite the contrary. It is very important to teach your dog when, where, and how he 'has' to do things. This training helps your dog understand that there are rules in life he has to follow, and helps him to understand how to deal with the pressure or stress of those situations. Sorry people, but life isn't all cookies and rainbows.

Building Your Dog's Character-
It is very important to be very predictable for your dog. The more predictable you are, the more confident your dog will be. Always remember that training should build your dog's character, not spoil your dog.

HOW TO RUIN A GOOD DOG IN THIRTY DAYS... In our line of business, we have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and we get a myriad of different views and opinions on dogs, regarding how they should be raised and nurtured. There comes a point to where we can almost tell what a client is going to say as the first word of a sentence leaves their mouth. We realize that we are not licensed psychologists. However, we are very good at reading and understanding behaviors, whether it be from a dog or a person. One thing that is very common in most people is the inability to properly raise and nurture a dog. We thought it would be interesting to add a page to our website that pointed out all the 'don'ts', instead of all the 'do's. We hope you enjoy the page.
